Join Our Investment Team!

19 May 2026

About Synthesis

Synthesis Capital is a leading venture capital firm backing technologies that are reshaping food production and the wider bioeconomy. Founded by a team with deep investing experience in food technology, we currently manage over $300M in AUM and are moving into an exciting moment of scaling our platform.

The Role

We are hiring a Senior Associate to join our investment team and play a central role across the full investment lifecycle from sourcing exceptional companies and leading diligence, through to execution and hands-on portfolio support. This is a high-ownership role within a small, ambitious and intellectually curious team. You will work directly on live deals, build relationships with founders, engage with LPs, and help shape investment decisions.

We are looking for someone who combines rigorous investment judgment with genuine curiosity, commercial instinct, and strong relationship-building ability. The right person will be proactive, adaptable and comfortable taking initiative in ambiguous environments. Beyond the core investment remit, this role is also an opportunity to help define how a modern investment firm should operate in the age of AI. We are looking for someone excited to experiment with and embed AI tools across our workflows - from sourcing and market mapping to diligence, knowledge management, and portfolio support. You should be the kind of person who, when faced with a repetitive process, instinctively looks for ways to make it faster, sharper, or more scalable using AI and other tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market analysis. Run ongoing research (increasingly with AI-augmented workflows) to surface investment trends, evaluate sectors, and track shifts that affect portfolio companies.
  • Deal sourcing and screening. Identify and evaluate new opportunities for fit with our investment thesis.
  • Due diligence. Lead workstreams across the deal lifecycle, overseen by a Partner: company meetings, reference calls, financial and commercial analysis, IC memos, and execution.
  • Portfolio support. Work alongside founders post-investment, track performance, and feed insights back into fund-level modelling.
  • Pipeline and systems. Keep the CRM and deal pipeline accurate and useful - not as admin, but as a competitive asset.
  • Network. Build relationships with founders, co-investors, operators, and high-potential targets.
  • AI tools and internal systems. Help shape and build the internal AI tools, agents, and automations the whole team relies on - across sourcing, diligence, market research, portfolio monitoring, and knowledge management. Identify high-leverage workflows and prototype solutions, partnering with senior team members and external technical resources.

Who We're Looking For

Experience

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in venture capital or private equity, investment banking, management consultancy, and/or with a high-growth start-up.
  • A demonstrable track record of running transaction processes end-to-end.
  • Strong financial and commercial skill sets; with high fluency in Excel, other modelling tools, PowerPoint, and AI tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant Master’s a plus but not essential.
  • Additional languages welcome but not required.

Mindset

  • Builder’s instinct - willing to experiment, trial rough versions of output, and iterate.
  • Genuine commitment to the future of food production and the bioeconomy, and to building a long-term career in the sector.
  • Comfortable owning ambiguity and operating with autonomy in a small team.
  • Emotional intelligence – at ease building relationships with founders, co-investors, and LPs, and able to navigate challenging conversations with composure

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, bonus, and pension.
  • Eligibility to join the long-term carried interest incentive plan after 12 months.
  • 25 days annual leave plus public holidays.
  • Private health insurance.
  • London-based role, with a collaborative in-office culture and flexibility around it.

If you’re excited about food technology, the bioeconomy, and the opportunity to help further build an investment platform from the inside, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply for this role, please email joinus@synthesis.capital and include:
